I was wondering if anyone has ever or thought about putting the innards of a blue and white G3 into a G4 tower case. Just an interesting thought that came across my mind. I guess its because I'm one of those people who like to operate on Macs for fun.

I think it could be done, but EVERYTHING would have to go into the tower, and it would have to be from a BW G3...

until the most recent revision (eg; the 5 slot motherboard) the g4 tower case was exactly the same as the BW G3 tower case except for the colours of the panels.
so yeah it could be done the easiest way would be just to change the case plastics.

no, the analog audio ports won't match up. I'm not sure if all the other ports will as well.
unless you get a case froma Yikes! G4 which would of course match up perfectly

Monsterboy, why would you want to do this? There are plenty of other cool mods you can do to a Mac. Check out the Modification forum for some cool ideas.

Changing the case plastics is DEFINITELY the easiest way of doing it. Probably also the cheapest, unless you have access to cheap/free G4 shells.
to change the top panel, front panel, zip bezel and side door apples it cost me about $100 Canadian (about $75 American). Just go to an Apple Authorized Service Provider (probably inside your favorite Mac store) and ask if you can order panels for your broken G4 case. Tell them it's not under warranty and that you'll install yourself and they'll probably cut you a deal.
