it can be done easily. i love my 7200 in my imac rev b. maxtor makes nice, fast, quiet drives, but if you want the best, get an ibm deskstar gxp.... those are very nice.

its a great upgrade for any imac. there shouldnt be heat problems, though you computer ma yrun alittle hotter.

There's someone in my head but its not me...

Yes,

I put a 7200 RPM Maxtor 45GB drive in my old iMac Rev/A with a NewerTech 46 G4 upgrade card. The machine is extremely spiffy now with the upgrade, but the Hard Drive speed really makes a difference.

It's easy to do... see the guides at iMac2Day:

Thanks, Installed a Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 80GB... runs sweet!
I opted for the ATA/100 so I could useit in the future...
I do have another question.. please see my new topic "adding 2nd HD to iMac?"

Hmm, I just placed an 30/7200 rpm in a imac 233. i must say it isn't very stable. Even though I have 96 mb of Ram and only use it for internet/hotline.

no, a Samsung. But now I blame macos 9.1 for it.
The only right OS for a bondi-blue is 8.6.
