I know the lcd wouldnt fit... but I am sure theres a way around that... maybe even a way to use the origanal CRT inside an old Mac Plus...???

I'm sure with a little planning and some knowledge of how electronics work you could fit the guts of an iBook into one of the all-in-one cases like the SE, etc. As far as fitting the LCD, maybe try a case from one of the Mac LC series computers like the 580. I think it would be cool to see an all-in-one Mac with a USB mouse and keyboard (besides the iMac.)

You wouldn't want to use the original CRT, it's black & white. I'm sure you could modify the case to fit the LCD.
Inside the case, you could put an iMate. Since the new iBook has 2 USB ports, you still have oneleft. Then you could use the original "plus", or maybe an SE keyboard and mouse(I forget if Plus had ADB yet). If you have room, run patch cords from the iBook MoBo to a panel on the back of the new case.
Seems like a static, but interesting, fate for a cool portable. But if you stick with a classic or color classic model(bigger display size), it will still be kinda portable. hmmm. a color classic with USB, FireWire and a 500MHz G3... neat toy.
The 580 and the AIO were too big to lug around easily. If you're gonna go that size, get a MacTV, they're black.

Umm... why?

And the philosophical "why not" will not suffice in this case

Nobody can stop you from tearing apart a perfectly good iBook to perform a logistical nightmare of a hack. In fact, more power to you. However, there is another way.. http://applefritter.com/hacks/ccg4/index.html

This is a cube in the body of a ColorClassic. IMO, a much better way to go. If you just gotta have an LCD, consider buying a totally dead TAM carcass, and stuffing your guts in there.

Personally I'd rather squeeze an iBook 366 FireWire out of its case and mount it, with the help of a person thats good at custom fiberglass, in the dash of my truck, and write an app for it, that runs full screen that acts as an MP3 player, PSX (VGS), navigation with a USB GPS Device, and a night vision camera c.a. Cadillac Deville, using firewire nightvision and/or infrared cameras... a little project that hasn't moved an inch in months, I like to call Project| Blazintosh...
