Hi I jsut installed a 80GB Maxtor HD in my iMac.. Muchg speedier! thanks for everyones help!

Now a new question.. is there a way to hook up the old 20GB HD if i used a new ribbon or something?

if so what kind of ribbon do I need, and were do I get one?

Also I guess I will hve to get a long ribbon and have the drive on the outside of the iMac.. I have an old external case it will fit into so I guess ill use that...

any help will be great!

What kind of case? You could put it in an external FireWire/USB housing and use it as if it were an external drive, but you COULD use an IDE splitter and run the wire outside the case... I advise against it though.
You may have to make holes to get it out, it'd be ugly, and would eat up the bandwidth of the main drive (not a prob really... drives are too slow), and can cause problems with master/slave settings and whatnot (both drives or wrong drives sending data and stuff).
Hell, maybe you can't even do that.
But the more I think about it no problem should be posed there... Oh well.
Use an external housing, FireWire preferable if your iMac has it, or USB if not. Or a dual one - FW and USB.

If you don't have a CD rom drive you can do that, but if you want a HD and CD-rom drive you will need to get a firewire/IDE converter box.

there are many places to get firewire or usb boxes to pop drives in.
check www.madlogix.com to start.
i think you can get a firewire one for $100.
if money is a really important issue and speed is not, you can get a usb box for about 60-70 somewhere online.
