I just recently put a 30 GB HD into my Pismo and it is LOUD! It really annoys me. I would really like to find a way to make it quieter. Is there a way? Is it safe to squeeze some sort of padding on top of it? Is there some sort of foam that would be good for this?

Thanks.

How recently ? If you could switch it for one of IBM's fluid bearings drives, you'll find them much quieter. If you want to help reduce the noise, it isn't so much a case of muffling the sound - that will give you heat problems. You need to insulate at the mounting points - with rubber grommets or similar. It would be difficult to do if the pismo isn't designed for that. Look at the docs for swapping harddisks on the TiPB. They have some info on the infamous rubber grommets in use on that platform.

Cheers,
Ben.
