Ok, I think a lot of people on this board have gotten tired of all my talk about making my Pismo silver all over, but I've got more ideas.

Can the trackpad in the Pismo be reaplaced with another trackpad of a different color (i.e. grey). I know some PC laptops have grey trackpads. OR, if any of you have experience withthe vinyl sheeting, can I cover the trackpad? Is that safe? Will I screw it up. I know that the trackpad doesn't respond to contact with certain surfaces. For instance, my pencap won't work,m as well as many other plastic surfaces. This trackpad is very different than the ones in the iBook and tiBook, which seem to work with more stuff. So maybe the sheeting won't hurt it, I hope.

Hey also, is it at all possible to squeeze an iBook trackpad into a Pismo? Underneath? Thanks.

You will have to modify it without changing its electrical characteristics. "Contact paper" or adhesive sheeting is out. I think most trackpads work on a capacitance sensing array, like touchscreens. Try using the trackpad with rubber gloves on.
The engineers typically don't leave much wasted space in a laptop, be careful what you remove.

the trackpad is one thing on the piz that i wouldnt change. its the best ive ever tried, even for its size. it looks great in my oppinion, and it would be a real biatch to change/mod.
although i beleive u can get films to put over the pads. i wouldnt suggest vinyl, as in my experiance that stuff gets sticky films and goos from the oils on the hands. if u do use somthin, find a film like that which is used on the ibook pads. essentially the ibook pad is a normal touch plate with a film, i beleive of mylar or some such material. it stays smooth and clean, and is thin enuf not to interfere with the normal pad operation. anyhow, im in a lyrical mood, hence the on-and-on about a touch pad ^_^
