Is there a solution to add FireWire to my iMac (Rev. A)?
Maybe by the mezzanine slot? or an other way...

I too would LOVE to have FireWire in my Rev.A. I have 2 iMacs - my trusty Rev. A and a graphite DV 400 (with FireWire). A while back, I bought a USB CD burner for my Rev. A but I HATE it because it only burns music at 2X - painfully slow. I'd love to get one of those new 16X or 20X burners.

I have a Formac iProRaidTV card in the mezz on my Rev. A - so if I buy a new burner, I have to decide between SCSI (which I'll never use on any future Mac again without custom SCSI) or FireWire (which I can't use on my Rev.A). I'd really like to just be able to buy a FireWire drive I could use on both. I don't like the idea of a FireWire-SCSI adapter either.

I also do a lot of music recording on the Rev. A (replaced 4GB hard drive with a 45GB 7200rpm IBM DeskStar) - and would love to be able to get the MOTU 828 FireWire interface to use with it.

It would be great if someone made a FireWire card for the mezz, or a SCSI-FireWire adapter. Anyone ever seen either?

With FireWire and an iForce upgrade, I could keep my Rev. A screaming for a few more years - I'm not a gamer, so I don't care much about video performance either... It'd be much cheaper than buying a new G4 and monitor, or even another iMac (which I don't think I'd do anyway...).

It could be done, maybe...I plan to try it next year (after I buy a new computer).

Step 1) Create custom case for Rev B (not an all-in-one design. I will use an external monitor)
Step 2) Attach the Mezzanine plug to the motherboard
Step 3) Attach the PCI adapter
Step 4) Run a ribbon cable to the T35 Expander PCI card (in its own box)
Step 5) Attach T35 Split Bridge cable to PCI card
Step 6) Attach PCI Firewire card, et al. (Hopefully )
