Well, on ArsTechnica and other PC forums, people are reporting good long lasting results with vinyl spray dye from Auto and Hardware stores. However the plastic on the IIci maybe be an odd one...but I would guess it would work fine. The IIci/si/x/II case design is an excellent one for easy painting though, IMHO.
Bah...where did our AI go?

I used a brush to paint one of my 6100s and my Starmax. They turned out really well. I have a friend who spray painted his PC. It was no where near as shiny, and some of the paint started chipping off, or scratching off later.

Kbbaucom, the paint came off because your friend hadn't prepped the surface of the case properly.

First take the case off of the computer.

using 1000 or higher grit wet/dry sandpaper from your automotive store, wet sand the parts you want to paint. then prime them. two coats. Then lightly wet sand again. 5 coats, sanding between coats. then paint your color, sanding between coats. 5 to 10 coats.
