I'm sure if I browsed around for several weeks I could find all the answers, but here goes.

I've got a 60Gig drive arriving in a few days and I'm going to replace the original 10Gig in my iMac. I've had the iMac open before, it is out of warranty and I am happy doing the replacement.
I also want to install OS X for the first time (I got a disc with my iBook, but never installed it)
I also intend to install VPC or RealWindows.
What suggestions does anyone have for partitions? how big, how many etc?
I mostly do bits of video editing, playing around with graphics/photos and sometimes even some work.
If I've missed a brilliant website which explains all of this, point me there, in the meantime I'll keep reading.

I'd recommend a swap partition seperate from the main partition. You can find great instructions on how to move the swap file in MacOS X at www.resexcellence.com. Unless you don't have much RAM, I'd suggest no more than a 500MB partition for the swap. I'm running 512MB RAM and I can honestly say that OSX has never truely used that swap file that I can tell.

If the OS X CD came with your iBook, I'm not sure you can use it with your iMac; I believe that the OS install CDs are hardware specific aren't they? Unless of course you've already done it.

The new drive is in and working,but I have not installed X yet. My iBook did not actually have the OS X CD in the Box, so I think I have a general OS X CD - so maybe I should only install half of it on each machine..........
