Put in a decent fast 7200rpm IDE Hard Drive and some more memory, also install the PowerLogix G3/G4 Cache controller and trust me, it'll put a new zip in your machines performance, especially the faster HD. Of course, it depends in part on the applications you use, not great for games but will make a difference when using Photoshop (the combination of more RAM and faster scratch).

Your Rev. D iMac still has the power to provide a lot of joy. I know it isn't really a high level processing machine anymore, but for young kids and web surfing adults it can be a perfect fit. My daughters aren't into computer gaming, except for some of the basic games like ambrosia shareware games. They are definitely into web surfing and emailing, and would feel blessed to be able to use a 333 iMac rather than an old Peforma with 72 megs max memory. Fortunately, I raised them right, and they are fully entrenched in the Mac Cult.
Now for us adults...bring on the 733 G4 Superdrive!!!
ps..if you are trying to unload the iMac, email me your price. But pretend you are playing limbo, and the emphasis is on "how low can you go..."

You know you're lucky. You have a Rev C. iMac just lying around your house. I'm still trying to find a use for my LC II (damn 68k can't play mp3s-that's a killer), I also have a 6400 that I sort of NEED because it's the only decently fast SCSI computer in my house and we only have a SCSI burner. My house also has a Rev B. iMac that is used daily by my sister, I would say for you to make it an mp3 jukebox somewhere in your house. I have a 10/100 BaseT/Airport/Localtalk network in my house which makes it easy to listen to music anywhere. A little cat 5 cable can work wonders.
Of you really want to make it cool you should get a touch screen for it. Make a giant Audion or SoundJam skin that covers the whole screen and looks really cool. That'll amaze your friends.
