iMac DV SE to a smaller case?

I have an iMac DV SE (the 500/128/30/DVD) model I bought used to determain if I wanted to move from the PC world to the Mac with OS X. I like the machine, but I just don't have the room to keep it set up all the time. I'm a ways away from buying a Powerbook (I'll probably wait for one more revision, by they I should have the cash for one), so I'd still like to use the iMac.

I currently own an 18.1 LCD I use on my PC, and it has two inputs. I'd like to find a way to gut my iMac and put it in a smaller case, then just hook it up to the second input on the LCD. I have only seen info on doing this with the older iMacs, so I'm not sure where to start. Does anyone know where I can look at photos of the guts in my machine? That would at least help to get me started.

And while I'm going to be opening it, what other upgrades exist? I've seen Voodoo 2 hacks and CPU upgrades on the older iMacs as well, but nothing for mine.

Well since the tube provides most of the heat, if you eliminated it you should have no problem with heat dissipation. However you'd have to find a way to mount the DVD drive (which has a weird IDE cable, two extra pins for power or something.) A couple of other factors you have to deal with, but it should be possible.
