I am going to acquire a PowerBook 180c very soon and I was wondering what type of paint to use on it? I would probably just paint the top of the lid.

Thanks,
Patrick. :-)

Acrylic or epoxy.

Use Pactra racing finish paint. You can find it at your local hobby store. This paint actually bonds with the plastic of your case, making it even stronger than before.

Important to note that Pactra has at least two lines, an Acrylic line (like I said) and a lacquer based line.

the lacquer one is more resistant to water, but the acrylic is also good.

I still side with epoxy, because epoxy bonds with the plastic better than the lacquer or acrylic pactra will, provided you prep the 'book with a little 1000 grit sanding first.

isn't epoxy a kind of glue?? Makes sense, though, paint with glue may bond better..

Epoxy is a type of glue. It's also a type of paint.

It works great on fiberglass, concrete, plaster and other surfaces, including swimming pools. It also is rugged enough to stand up to the punishment that a laptop receives.

Thanks a lot!

I think I'm going with epoxy. Where would be a good place to pick some up? A Hobby store?

What I'm planning on doing is painting it light gray and slapping a white Apple sticker on it.. sorta like a TiBook :-P

Patrick.

You could paint a white circle, mask the apple shape, and then paint light gray all around- final step, remove the masking, revealing a white apple logo in epoxy.

Try a hobby store.

Test on something else first...
And you may want to disassemble the laptop so that you only spray the covers, not the laptop itself.

RJ London has a line of acrylic-epoxy, which is a high gloss epoxy... never used it, but it's interesting. You may not need the high gloss and can go with any epoxy.
