Has anyone swapped out the green sleep light for something different? It'd be cool to put a blue or red one in there...
sine? Thought about?

Here's my question:
1) have you disassembled your ibook before?
2) does your LED change colors (green to orange at sleep) ?
if 2) is yes, then you'll either have to give up the second color, or find a different two-color three-wire LED.
If 2) is no, it just pulses, then you should be able to use almost any LED.
digi-key, jameco, mouser are all good sources for this sort of thing.

So yes, take apart your iBook, use a solder sucker to desolder the LED, buy another color LED of the same physical size, solder in place, clip the extra long leads, and reassemble. Get on and off of the circuit board quickly. you don't want to burn the board, lift a trace, or anything else like that.
