I have a G3 tower. I am looking to acquire and install an internal CD RW and although there appears to be a suitable space under the CD ROM drive, from inside the box, but the front seems to have been designed for a zip or similiiar drive only. So has anyone got the know on modifying the plastic front.
I should note that I would like to keep the existing CD ROM drive so I can continue to listen to my CD's whilst I'm burning, plus I've also heard that a number of suitable internal CD Writers can't play Audio CD's, I hope this is a fallacy if I have to remove the existing CD ROM Drive.

Installing another drive can be done - but it's not pretty. I did a 'modification' of the zip drive bay by removing/cutting, and eventually forcing my Yamaha CDRW drive into the space. The fit is extremely tight though. But in the end it works great! If you want I can send you some pics of the 'operation'.
