I'm going to repaint my iBook from the inside and I want to use an opaque paint that will come off with alcohol like the original white. What technical details should I look for on the can?
I've read all the other posts about this, but everyone seems to use translucent paint or they speak Japanese
Thanks!

I'd be interested to know this too... I'm going to paint mine black but if I decide to I want to be able to remove the paint and change something.

Auto brake fluid works well on Lexan paints, like Pactra and Tamiya's. They both have opaque colors. Not sure if the brake fluid would damage the iBook's exterior, though. Chances are that it wouldn't.
Brake fluid is kind of a pain - you need it to remove the paint, then you have to use another cleaner to remove the brake fluid. Try Simple Green or a citrus cleaner.

Most times the can doesn't say much that will be useful to you. We tested the paint we used on plexiglass - that seemed to be the closest material we could find.
Good luck.

Brake fluid really isn't flammable. Glycol (propylene, ethylene, & triethylene) and glycol ethers, the primary components of it, are basically the same stuff they use in smoke machines at clubs, for theatrical effects, etc.
It's typically got a boiling point of around 700 deg. F. Pretty stable stuff, actually. Just a pain to clean up.

You may want to keep an eye on Macskinz, formerly Appleskinz. They claim to be coming out with products for the ibook and imac soon, which I hope is true cause my Ruby buddy could use a makeover. Also, you might try contacting them for advise on what type of paint to use. The good thing about their "covers/skins" is that you can remove them when it's time to sell your stuff, and the resale value will probably be betterthan a machine that people might regard as "been messed with".
Good luck, and post some pics when it's done
