depends on which iMac-
on iMacs with tray-loading cd-roms, it's easy.
take off the bottom cover, disconnect the internal monitor cable, connect Griffin Technologies MacPnP adapter, and large CRT. Max resolution is 1600x1200.
on iMacs with slot-loading cd-roms, it's hard.

Ok,How hard? Dissassemble the case and unplug or unsolder a cable or is software and adapters needed? I would love to do this if its possible.

slot-loading iMacs, and this may not work perfectly-
use the external vga port. if you don't have one, you'll have to add one.
take off the bottom cover of the iMac. take off the front of the iMac. take off the back shell.
take off the video cable that goes through the power supply board into the motherboard. tape off the connector.
reassemble covers.
boot. the internal monitor will be disabled and the only monitor it can use is the extrernal.
Note, I am not and cannot be responsible for any damage you do to your iMac or yourself.
