AOL IM Icon replacement

Is there a way to change the default icon of AOL instant messenger permanently so I don't have the annoying IM bubble flashing? I would like to switch to a different icon, but if I just copy paste an icon, it switches back to the default to display the ****** bubble. Please help. Thanks.

If you're in OS 9, you can do it in ResEdit.

I have icongrapher for OS X, and I figured I could probably get the job done with that...I am just having trouble finding the resource files to change. I will give resedit a shot. Thanks.

I made an alias for AIM and gave it a new icon. I then threw that into the dock. No more bounce.

Here's some instructions from resexcellence. you'll have to boot to OS 9, use resedit, and boot back into OS X to check out the results.
