I'm upgrading the hard drive in my iBook 500 later tonight and wanted to make sure I have everything I need. The directions I'm referencing say the (4) screws that mount the hard drive itself to its brackets are "probably" a T-9 Torx head. Anyone know for sure? The smallest size I have is a T-10 and I want to make sure I'm going to be able to get the screws out.
Thanks!
Jeff

We use a T-9.

Is a T-10 close enough that I'll be able to get the screws out, or should I hit a store to specifically grab a T-9? Or can a jeweler's flathead fit inside the star pattern well enough to get the screw out? I hate buying tools for one-time jobs. I'll probably just replace the screws with small philips-head ones anyhow.
Thanks,
Jeff

A T-10 wouldn't be "close enough" to fit. Go to Sears (yes, Sears) and buy a T-9 torx screwdriver- I think individually they are less than five dollars or so. And I wouldn't recommend using any other screws than what came out of your iBook. They need to be the right thread count, length, etc. And since you will have a T-9 torx screwdriver sitting around anyway, you can use it to put the original screws back in.
