Hi people!

Is it possible to switch off the iMac screen to save power and work with a mirrored screen? If so, how (under X?)?

Cheers, Thilo

I wonder if you couldn't have mirroring turned on, have it show all resolutions, not just the recommended ones, set the resolution higher than the range of the internal screen- if it works, it'll turn off the internal screen but leave the other one on.

mmh, the thing is that it cannot show "all resolutions". only the internal res' are displayed. and I don't know how to switch off the internal screen

SwitchRes does this in OS 9.x (download from versiontracker.com)
but I can't find a program that does similar things for X, in your case.

The option is there to use resolutions not suggested by the monitor, but because it's an iMac it won't show you these options.

I'll keep an eye out for a solution for this...
