Now that I have decided not to dismember my SE/30 due to its miraculous recovery, does anyone know if there is a faster processor that will drop into the existing board eg '040, or higher. I believe Motorola went to '060 - is this possible?
On one site it is mentioned that you can get it up to 128Mb by using 16Mb SIMMS - anyone got experience of that?

There were a few commercial processor upgrades for the SE/30. The ones I can think of right now are the DayStar Turbo 040 and the MicroMac DiiMO 30. Where you could locate these, I have no idea.

Try whatever's available on eBay.
The '060 performed almost at a PowerPC level; it was similar to the Pentium in being a superscalar CISC processor. Prolly why Apple didn't use it.
AFAIK the only PC's that used that chip were the Amigas, because that platform didn't have the resources to go all PPC when the revolution came.
Be prepared to spend more on 128MB than you ever will again, maybe even more than if you bought those same SIMMs ~3-4 years ago.
