I have an iMac 350 with a flickering screen. I think adding an external VGA monitor might be the best solution. Is that possible, and if so, how do I do it?

Use the VGA port on the back... it is behind a little door you'll have to remove. Basically flip the iMac on its screen and it should be just below the apple logo on the very back of your system. Remove the door (it looks kind of like a screen) and then plug an external monitor in.

My iMac doesn't have the VGA port. It's the original 350 slot-loader base model.

buy the port. your motherboard has the pinholes for it. solder port on.
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

Any idea where I can get one of these ports to solder on? Also, I saw a posting about putting an iMac in an ATX case with "your" adapter? Any info?
