Well how would I go about changing a LaCie USB 2.0 burner to use FireWire instead?

Well, where could I just "trade it in"? Couldn't I just get a different case(its one of the internal burners in a case)?

Well, I was only being half serious when I suggested you trade it in. Yes, firewire cases cost around $75-100 US. At that point it's almost like you're paying for a new burner. If I were you I'd sell my USB 2.0 burner on E-bay and then just buy a new firewire burner -- or check out APSTECH.com, they have the usb 2.0/firewire burners I mentioned before -- all their stuff I believe is made by lacie.
