hey guys,

i have a rev a iMac with a dead analog/video board. heck, who doesn't these days?

i've been thinking about taking the guts out and sticking them in my old powerbook 520.

is such a thing even possible? would it be able to run off of a battery if i had the right kind of power supply?

and if it is, could i use a 520c color display, or maybe an old 12.1" powerbook or iBook display? i know it might not fit right, but i'm not too concerned about looks.

thanks--

Have you ever been inside of your PB 520? I have had mine in many pieces on the dining room table adding RAM and a new processor. There is very little room in there; certainly a motherboard from a Rev a iMac would not come close to fitting, not to mention the IDE hard drive and how would you ever connect it to the display? Sorry to be so discouraging, but a better bet would to hook an external monitor to it. I think this fixes this problem with the Rev A iMac and V. Marks has the details on how to do this.

you can also put a rev a-d imac into an atx case.
It requires making an adapter for power supply, but there are instructios floating around on the web.

A cool thing to do is to put it in a 1U rack case
