Since updating the HD, I've been wondering about practical methods of lowering the weight of my iBook. The shielding seems pretty light, as are most of the components. As far as I can see, the major weighty items are the battery and casing.
Anyone got any clever ideas ? I suppose you could drill lightening holes everywhere, but that would spoil the look.

drill holes. not in the case though. Do it to pieces that dont really matter much... Im probably going to try to shave a few ounces when I open up my iMac this week. Just make sure you get rid of all the metal shavings!!!! >

~LOL~

Why would you Need/Want to "lighten" your iMac?!

Plus, taking away structural components of your portable is probably not too safe..
Seeing as Apple already had its pro designers shave every little extra ounce off so that its specs would look good, anything more can be hazardous to your iBooks health, and the cost of fixing it would be very hazardous to yours too!

Cuz I carry mine around a lot! And swinging a sack around between my legs that weighs over 50lbs just isnt fun!

Err.... I'm describing the iMac here. Hehehe.

PS: Why not lighten up the iMac if I'm in it anyway? Seems like a good idea.

When I carry my iBook to work, I've also got enough stuff in my backpack with it to add up to about a stone in weight. (logic would dictate that I should lose some of the other stuff I suppose).
More of a theoretical, "I wonder how light I can make it" kind of thing.

I would, but I live in the UK. It rains a lot.
There's a subject for a new Mac mod topic. "Waterproofing you Mac !"
