I bought a Western Digital. WD1200JB, 120GB 7200RPM HD with a 8MB Buffer to replace my iMac FP 60GB 5400RPM HD. I was able to get the old HD out without any problems, thanks to the iMac Service Manual, and installed the new HD. I put everything back together and yes, I did use the thermo gel before closing the case up. I put the OS X CD in the CD Drive and turned the iMac on holding down the "C" key, was able to get to the part where it asks you where you want to install and the drive wasn't listed. Repeated again to make sure and nothing!!! The last time I did it I only got a "black" screen after starting up. What gives? What did I do wrong? I even put the drive into a firewire enclosure to make sure the drive was good and of course it was fine.
