I just solved a wierd 'bug' with my Swann USB mini mouse.

Since yesterday, my mouse stopped moving up and down at around the same time of day. I'd installed the multimedia updater yesterday, so I reset my usb overdrive settings and jiggled things around a bit and it was working again.
The same thing just started happening today. That's when I noticed that the sun was shining directly on my TRANSPARENT blue mouse. straight on the optical sensor for the vertical tracking, completely flooding it.
If I put my hand in front of it to block the sun, it works again.
That's why the hockey pucks aren't totally transparent, and why I suddenly need a pair of shades for my mouse

That is weird. Why don't you try some blinking lights or move near a traffic light.

I'm going to use a blue permanent marker on the inside of the case, around the area of the opto pickups. Hopefully, that should cure it for the 3 or 4 days a year we have bright sunshine in the UK :-)

disclaimer: The British Tourist Board wishes to point out that it is actually a lot sunnier in Britain than most of the British make it out to be. Sometimes we get a whole WEEK of summer.
