iPort uses the IrDA connector on 'old' iMacs to supply a serial port. I just noticed the IrDA port on my iMac Rev D motherboard, so I thought it would be possible to solder a connector on it and build a serial adapter for it. My only question is how. Does anyone have any information on the IrDA connector in iMacs? It's right next to the hard drive IDE connector and the Floppy drive connector (next to the Crystal chip).

Thats a good point,
the builtin IRDA module on the iMac used the serial port,
If it would be possible to find the components/chips used for the serial connecter, and then the chip for the IR Pod, we could hack back in the IR!
