I was just wondering if, in theory, I can simply pull out my G3/300 from my beige G3, and replace it with a G4? Will it function properly, and will I be able to use Alti-Vec? Will there be any problems created by the fact that my board uses a 64 bit bus, not a 128 bit bus? Would I need to replace the entire daughter card, or should simply replacing the praocessor work?

Thanks for answers to any of these questions,
Sean

You would simply require a [expensive] G4 ZIF socket upgrade card for this to work, oh, and be sure you have the Royal VRM, not the bad one... the VRM is this square module under/right of the personality card, if you have the correct version, it is greenish, not black, and the little "life saver" thing on it is perpendicular to the board, not parallel. The thing with the older VRM is that it can't supply enough voltage (or something like this) to the G4 processor not allowing it to work.
