Hi guys

I have an original (Rev A) iMac.

Is it possible to hook up an INTERNAL DVD ROM instead of the apple CD ROM drive?

I've bought an external USB to IDE bridge. It comes with a power supply and the bridge electronics. Currently I am using it to hook up an external 30GB HD to my 4GB iMac (it's hooked up via the USB).

I assume it's possible to buy an IDE DVD ROM drive and hook it up that way (externally), but I won't have any mean to view DVD movies, just copy (DVD) files. Is that correct?

ANy help will be appreciated

as you said, it would not be possible to play dvd movies (no onboard mpeg decompression) but it should be able to (with the proper drivers) to read and access dvd-data. The other problem, is that there is no freaking room inside the first gen imacs. you might be able to pick up a powerbook dvd-rom drive, but it probably isn't IDE (i don't do powerbooks). curious on you sucess...
