So, does anyone have any suggestions on what color I should paint the white parts of an iBook SE?

I was thinking the iBook SE should have the same coloration as the G4 powermac, so I'd need a gray.....

I think silver would look AWESOME. The thing is, is it will rub off, no matter what kind of paint you use. But here are my suggestions anyway:

Satin Silver (with Brushed Aluminum Accents... you could get it done SOMEWHERE> hehe)

Chrome Spray Paint with about 2 layers of protective clearcoat...

Tip: Painting the clear parts FROM THE INSIDE would look REALLY cool, plus it would not rub off. THat sounds like the thing to do IMHO.

Definately black. Paint the insides of the case like the guy that painted his G3 did. That way it won't flake off.

Yes. Should've pointed that out. The inside would be painted.

And those are powerbooks! Were talking "i" here kids!

Anyway, silver or black, to go with the blue-gray rubbery bits. Any other colors?

Someone should photoshop a black or silver iBook (hint, hint). And not the colored parts, but the white parts (hint, hint). [Dr. Evil]Throw me a frickin' bone, here![/Dr. Evil]

iBook or PowerBook, it doesn't matter. Paint it black (or whatever is the closest to 'graphite')!

Here's a quick, (and admittedly cheesy), black iBook photoshop job. I also made the Apple logo glow purple. Sorry, i don't really know any html so I'm not sure how to make the pic show up in this message, but here's a link: http://www.geocities.com/norespectdu...osedhacked.jpg

I sure hope it works the link works this time...

html is turned off in these forums. We have been using UBB code. Here is a UBB Quick Reference.

You would insert the image as {img}http://www.geocities.com/norespectdudes/ibookclosedhacked.jpg{/img}

Just substitute block brackets for the wavy brackets: [] instead of {}.

Here is what it looks like.

Also, watch the image size. I posted several whoppers before becoming more careful.

Is that really the graphite model? It looks so.....blue.

Interesting.

If I go iBook, I'll definitely consider it.

(Basically, I'm gonna buy a 17" iMacSE or a 13" iBookSE, whichever comes first.)

Er, be VERY careful spraying the colored parts. They all have a rubbery film on them that reacts badly to paint. It crackles up and looks like crap.

I think the insides of the colored parts don't have the film on it, but even so you have to be careful with the paint. Spray paint tends to float around in misty clouds and can still get to the colored parts if you're not careful.

Someone needs to start painting iBooks. I did some poking around likely sites, and even searched with Sherlock. I found Oscar's Goth Girl, but not one painted iBook pic.

For the adventurous with iBook & paint can: Maybe you could look into UV-reactive paint. This stuff is used at parties, it glows when exposed to black light (UV). Might look cool, especially if the Apple glowed a different color.

The rubber on the iBooks already does a pretty good job of glowing when exposed to a blacklight. Looking at the bottom of a Book placed next to a BL is enough to blind a man for life.

PS: Don't ask me how i found out they glow...
