As I suggested before, filling a calculator with oil and plasticwrapping it would make it submergible.

That I did today (do I have a life?). I bought a calculator for $2 in Value Village and invested $1.30 in a bottle of vegetable oil. Then I took apart the calc and reassembled it under the surface (yuck, it was all slimy). The plastic wrapping took place outside the plate, as fast as I could, without making a big mess on my desk. I put three layers of plastic around and then pushed the ON button. IT WORKED! IT WORKED!

Why did I post it here? I wanted MacNN to have the exclusive, in case this experiment ever becomes famous.

So can you fill your iMac with oil and use that underwater also?

No, this experiment is in reply of someone who wanted to waterproof his/her iBook in a post weeks ago.

ok, well first of all, just because it worked instantly doesnt mean that it will continue to work, the oil seeping into certain things, etc may over time cause it to fail to work. Second of all, this most definately does not mean you can do the same thing to an iBook (duh) cause of many reasons. Cool experiment though.
