If you have a 350 mhz imac, its a 2nd generation iMac.

If your processor is a 333mhz one, you have a rev D 1st generation iMac. However, you said you didnt purchase a colored one.... so I;m guessig you have the 2nd gen one.

i am using a 350mgz imac with 64meg ram and the 6 gig hard drive (this is the basic model right now just lower than the colored dv models)

No offence cal422, but reading your posts gives me a headache. Proper punctuation and spelling are relatively easy goals to achieve, and greatly enhance the effectiveness of your posts (assuming, that is, that clear communication of your questions is one of the things you wish to achieve with your posts).

Is it just me, or has the 'net contributed to a reduced importance being put upon basic standards of literacy and clear writing?

I totally agree with Trapper, the posts are just a nightmare, some commas or periods would be much appreciated. As for your questions.....regarding dvd-rom, you may want to try swapping with a dv model owner's to see if it would work, i'm curious to see if it would. As for this "clock Chipper" you have, i don't know who sold that to you, but you got ripped off. I don't think you can clock an iMac to 1 Ghz, that's just bull. If you fool around with chipping your iMac, you will seriously shorten the life span of your computer because the whole thing is calibrated to cool a 400Mhz chip and lower. best of luck to you.

It's not feasible to clock an iMac to 1GHz? This guy says differently... http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~t-imai/imacde1.html
No one ever said it was stable, though. cal422, I wouldn't overclock that iMac to anything above 450MHz. (Yes, it's MHz, not mgz.) I'd be cautious at 400MHz, really. This actually brings me to note how stupid the iMac 350 is. You can find iMac 333s for less money, and they are pretty much the same. The graphics card is slightly better in the new iMacs, but since you can't play real games on it anyway, who cares? A Newer 466MHz upgrade in an iMac 333 and you've got a better iMac than the 350.

Well i figured it would be safe to go to at least 400 MHz because of the iMac DV and iMac DV Se models. So you think i could go up to 450 MHz? Last but not least I told you I was new at this whole computer thing can you please lighten up????

You guys really should lighten up. I get annoyed by poor punctuation also. But that's it, just annoyed. At least you were nice when telling some one thier grammer sucks. Speaking from the point of view a very bad speller, and a horrible typist to boot, I say PLAY NICE! I teach english, and I notice that my own writting skills go to hell on the net. Maybe UBB should include spell and grammer check into it's program, and then everyone will be happy....

Ditto on Thinkinsane,

I know I give him a (joking) hard time once in a while but there is also another thing to consider.

People posting to the forum may not have english (american?) as their first language either, hence the first "w" in "www", geddit?
