Hi,
I've been checking out PCI video cards for my 7300 Powermac. I WANT a voodoo 5 but am struggling to raise the $330 and I want TV as an option too. I was looking therefore at the ATi Xclaim 16Mb cards or whatever that offer TV and have I suppose an alright (not that good though) graphics performance. However, there are ATi All-In-Wonder PCI cards for PC which are way better value. Does anyone know why I can't just chuck one of these in my Mac, whether it would be supported. If it doesn't work is there any way of making it work?

Other than Voodoo 3 cards, no PC video card will work in a Mac.
That's why you can't just chuck an ATi All-In-Wonder card for PC in your Mac.

nope, unless you know how to write drivers from the hardware specs...*thinks to himself I might be able to do that in a few years...but that'll be quite a LONG wait*
I think there's a difference with the color set, which the beta unsupported V3 drivers emulate or something...
As far as TV card is concerned, since ixMicro went bankrupt a while back, there's been somewhat of a void in that field

Ok, I think I'll just buy a cheap VooDoo3. I don't have the money for a VooDoo 5 and haven't heard that there will be a PCI Radeon. Besides I think my system won't run those cards very great anyways!

With the money you save from the Voodoo5 to Voodoo3 (I've seen Voodoo3 PCI cards going for £69), you could easily afford to buy a Formac TV card or similar.

The Radeon was just announced last week at Macworld Expo. I don't recall the estimated ship date, though.

The Radeon will ship in both versions, AGP and PCI, and will cost $279.
The AGP is expected to ship this September while the PCI will ship possibly late fall, not clear yet, ATI only said that it would ship somewhere in Fall, but i expect that the PCI version will supposedly come out later.
