I recently tried to overclock my Yikes G4 from 400 MHz to 450 MHz by reconfiguring the white jumper block. Once in a while it'll attempt to boot up, but most of the time it goes into Open Firmware and when I type "mac-boot" it says "DEFAULT CATCH!" like it's locked out from being boosted. Does anyone know open firmware enough to fix this or have a better overclock solution. I've cooled the CPU down enough, it's just a matter of how to make it run faster

take it to 500! believe it or not a few people have more succes at 500 than at 450! If you don't think it will go, heres food for thought. I just clocked my sawtooth 350 to 450!

It's done by switching resistors on the back of the cpu card. I did it by desoldering all the PLL resstors and soldering wire leads to the pads. Then I attatched 1/4 watt resistors to the correct leads so I could interchange the resistors without having to resolder each time I wanted to change speeds. The information to do this mod was gathered from the XLR8 Your Mac web site.
