Hey. I need your help guys. Does anyone know of a dipswitch with 2 outputs? like, instead of ON OFF, I need a dipswitch that acts like a Y switch, diverting the input to one or the other. Not off.

Can anyone help me?!

Depending on how many lines you need to re-route with the switch, there are many products that do what you're asking.

There is a serial port switcher with manual switching instead of the automagical sense-and-switch approach which should be inexpensive (about US$29-35). The automatic switchers I've seen were >$50.

There are monitor switchboxes that do what you want, parallel port (printer) switchboxes for the PC and many others.

Look online for 'switchbox'. But if you're looking for a homebrewed solution, I'd check out your local electronics store (Radio Shack or such).

Good Luck. Vive la Macintosh!

I think you misunderstood. I need a REALLY tiny switch. Actually, multiple switches. 5 to be exact. I need a tiny 5 switch thing, with each switch having one input and 2 outputs..... basically 5 Y switches next to each other, like a DIP switch. Do they make dipswitches with 2 outputs?!

Oh, I've never heard of a DIP switch with multiple outputs. What are you trying to string up?

How about using a rotary type DIP switch - one lead with multiple contacts? Or you could check out the huge catalag at http://www.alliedelec.com and see if something else might be available that would work.

How about wiring two ON/OFF dipswitches in parallel? You would have the choice of connecting either one of the Y branches, both, or none.

Cash, what you are looking for is a dpst (double pole, single throw) dip switch. You should be able to find them at your local radio shack, or your preferred electronics store. They take a single input, and simultaneously open or close the connection to two outputs.

Crazyb. Are you sure that's what he wants? I think he is asking for a SPDT style DIP switch and I don't see any (SPDT or DPST) listed in my RS catalog, not for a DIP style switch as Ca$h asked for. Just for my information (and possible future use) what part number did you find for a DPST DIP from RS?
