Does overclocking your chip eventually wear off? I'm on a Yosemite G3/300 and i recently overclocked it to 400Mhz about a few weeks ago, after overclocking, my MacBench 5.0 CPU score was 1220 and it took me around 9 hours - 50 minutes per SETI Unit. Now, my MB 5 CPU score is 1090, and it takes me around 10 hours - 40 minutes. What the hell is going on?

People aren't as dumb as you think. Wait, what was I thinking, 90% of the world uses WINDOWS!
You don't like Macs? Good, more for me.

There are many things that can slow down your system. Do you rebuild the desktop file regularly? I'd say you should do it every two weeks or so. Also, are you using a different extension set? What extensions you're using can greatly impact RAM and CPU time. Besides, Macbench is notorious for giving inconsistant scores. As for SETI@Home, make sure you've got enough RAM free and you're not running other applications when you run it.

decidedly, SETI@home should be run as screensaver only and set to go to black screen after one minute...
