I saw a thread that indicated that if I purchase a "New in the box" machine from an auction site, it would not be eligible for the Apple warranty as it didn't come through an authorized reseller.

Anyone know if there is truth to this? Finding legal warranty definitions on Apple's byzantine website is harder than reading the actual warranty.
