ok i jsut got the 'official' sega KB and its no thing more than a pee-cee KB with a DC cord stuck in it, does anyone think they could wire up an apple KB? obviously its more than soldering the cable in? but if it can be done id buy one! and i bet i could help sell a ton more cause sega kids would eat up multicolord small KBs over this nasty official one!!!

ill help in any way i can if you need pics of the DC kb inners or can dig up some DC cable specs and whatever i dunno....

I'm wondering if I can use my Apple keyboard with the upcoming Playstation 2? The PSX2 has two USB ports. I'm hoping it will cut the cost of having to buy a specialized keyboard like my Dreamcast.

Slick shoes?!! Are you crazy?!!

Why would anyone want to play a game that required a keyboard and mouse on a game console? Isn't that what computers are for?

why would someone want to spend over a grand to just play UT? oh wait i guess thats what emachines are for!!

i personally would rather UT or Q3 on mah g4, FPS games are usually the only games i like better on computers, but console games always been my passion...

you cant play sonic adventure sitting at a desk! it just doesnt work!

Yes, but if you have an Apple USB keyboard you obviously already own a semi-new computer that would be better for fps games (unless of course you have an iMac). Would you want to use a keyboard to play sonic adventure? I don't think so and that was my point.

well usb keyboards been around for a while now, i dont consider them new by any means(remeber the original imac and g3s came with these well over a year and a half(maybe even 2 years ago) i think...

and im agreeing with you fps games just plan suck on a console, but some people dont like gaming on there computers for what ever reason, and also the ps2 might be graphically better than an origianl imac or g3(i know UT looks pretty nasty on a standard G3 setup)

id prolly put up with bad visual though rather than play it on a ps2... but thats just me

1) Remember the Sega Saturn and the NetLink? Well, instead of buying the Sega keyboard (which - just like the DC's Keyboard - was a PS/2 jobber with a Saturn connector on the end), Sega sold a PS/2 to Saturn adaptor for something like $15. That would be the way to go on the DC.

2) USB keyboards will work on the PS2. In Japan, a Beatmania typing game will ship with a clear USB keyboard, but the game will also work with standard USB keyboards as well. Why the hell anyone would want to type to Beatmania songs is beyond me...

3) Unreal on my G4 is lots of fun, but Unreal on a PS2 hooked up to a 500-watt stereo and a 32" component TV would also have it's merits. There's something to be said for hooking up a PS2 that's $300 and getting online with UT, knowing that you have all of the required hardware right out of the box.

From what I've seen of the Playstation 2 (a lot), it won't be able to handle UT as well as a G4. That being said, there are some people out there who want to play UT and don't have/can't afford a high-spec computer. That's the niche the designers are trying to fill. How well they do it depends on the market. I guess if people have $300 + money for games, etc. to toss into a PS2, then they have no excuse for not having a good computer, eh? =)

True, you must buy a modem or a broadband adaptor for the PS2. This doesn't affect me personally (I usually don't play online games), but I can see why Sega is pushing so hard for DC sales, especially in light of PS2's recent 'shortfall' - half the price, with online capabilities built in.

btw, I already own a PS2
