It is possible to switch the daughtercards in the older G4 to a newer Dual G4. I have talked to people who have done it. Only problem is you need the Dual G4 daughtercard. Anyone know how to get one? Are they for sale anywhere? A few companies (powerlogix) are or are going to offer upgrades for g4 owners to the newer ones, but everyone knows how compatable accelerators are. Any help?

Right now the easiest way would be to buy a new G4 DP, which would kind of defeat the purpose of the upgrade. I think that when Powerlogix and company come out with their DP cards, they will make sure they work with OS X (to which I assume you are alluding) or else they would be out of business. They do say, though, that they wait until their upgrades cost less than half the price it would take to buy a new computer that is as fast, so you might be waiting a few months.

I have heard on xlr8yourmac of Apple dual 450's showing up on e-bay and at a couple of resellers... around 4-599.00. Some require exchange, some don't. From what I have read there, a dual will work fine in a sawtooth... if you have the right motherboard connector, the card will work. http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/G4ZONE/G4..._G4_page1.html
