Didn't you downgrade from a Pismo 500? Now you want to overclock your 400?
Whats the problem here? All because another computer came out with a faster clock rate, yours isn't any slower than it was a week ago...
Again, this is a numbers game - "Mine is bigger than yours".
Get over it...
Sorry for the rough post, but you get the idea.
Anyway, its not a good idea overclocking a laptop, especially when it already runs at 400 MHz.

Are you sure the ibook is faster than your Powerbook. I'd test them first. I have a funny feeling your Powerbook is still faster. Don't be misled by the Mhz rating.
The fastest ibook is a 466 Mhz G3 with a 512kb L2 cache and a 66Mhz bus. The 400 Mhz Powerbook has a 1MB L2 cache and a 100 Mhz bus.

Correction, the new iBooks have a 256K On-die cache. It runs at the same speed as the processor.

Yes, Dude you are correct. It is a 256kb on-die L2 cache. I goofed. Must of looked at the wrong Apple Spec DB sheet.

I don't think that the performance gain you MIGHT get from 500 over 400 MHz would be worth risking the stability. Those things are set on such tight temperature restrictions that OCing is rarely a good idea. Besides, I'm sure your PowerBook would toast and iBook. I have a 333 MHz iMac and it is beat out by a 300 MHz G3. Why? Because the G3 has a bigger L2 chip and maybe (I'm not sure) a faster bus speed. Those things add up and can't be discounted when talking about speed. Besides, you're a Mac user, you know that clock speed isn't everything (or at least you should by now).
