Can i install an ata 100 drive in my G4 dual processor with its ata-66 controller?

Juan, you sure can!
The only problem - it will only run at the controller's limit, ATA-66.

AS a rule of thumb, all ATA, IDE, EIDE (whatever you want to call them) are backwards compatible. The newer ones always work with older controlers, although don't produce the same speed.

No guarantees about it'd work, but you could try using a promise tech ata100 pci controller card with an ata100 drive...to PC's those cards appear as scsi cards... I wonder how well it would work in the powermac...

don't worry, it will work. i have the ibm deskstar 100 ata drive in my G4 rev a 450. works beautifully.
