The other day I read an artical on another website that stated there was not any thermal grease(goo) between my Beige G3's processor and heat sink. I know the RISC processors run cool enough without it but in my mind every little thing counts(especialy when you over clock a bit). I went to Radio Shack and got a tube for a couple a buck and dabed a little on (doesn't take much). Although I didn't notice a performance diferance the processor ran a little cooler.
I was sitting around thinking about my old 6100. I would like to run it as a Linux machine but it gets to hot if I leave it on. So I thought about the thermal grease. Surely with the old 601 (hot plate) they would use it. To my disipointment, no. I have check several PowerPc's and none of them have any thermal grease. I don't know why Apple has not taken this realitivly inexpensive and minor percaution but you may want to consider adding it to your PowerPC. I will try to post some tempeture results(with/without) sometime if anyone is interested.
