I have been doing a lot of reading into adding a Game Wizard to my rev. D and I still have a few questions about the whole situation. First, if I can, I want to avoid swapping mobo's with a rev. A/B because I would like to keep my Rage Pro. If no one has notice any significant losses in switching over to the Rage IIc, then I may reconsider on that point. Also, if I go to an Apple certified place and "discuss" adding a mezz slot, does anyone think they will bite?
Second, has anyone tested the Game Wizard in OS X. Obviously it wouldn't work unless there was a patch in the system. Is anyone working on making the Game Wizard OS X compatible? Also, does the Rage IIc give OS X a slow feel or is the OS not THAT graphics intensive?
Finally, I saw a 12 MB Game Wizard for sale. That's right, 12 MB! Is this guy who's selling it smoking crack or did they make a 12 MB version? I thought 8 MB was it.

You shouldn't notice any difference in graphics if you swap your mobo with a rev. B. Why? Because rev. B's have rage pro and 6MB VRAM, which is the same as your current rev d.

No, he wasn't smoking crack. He may have been smoking his 12MB PCI GameWizard.

Right. Thanks. Does anyone know about OS X support, or anyone who is planning drivers or system level threads or whatever to get the Game Wizard to work with OS X? And that adding a mezz slot. . . I would swap a mobo with someone if I knew a person with a rev. B, but I'm not sure I do. I'm pretty sure they have a rev. A, but I haven't seen their computer in a while. If anyone knows of a person willing to swap a rev B mobo (obviously it would have to be someone who doesn't know what they have ), email me at dechant@stolaf.edu. Or if you have any info about someone who is very, very good at soldering.

1. Swap. The onboard vid card is the same. Swap. Thats all I can say. its easy, its simple, its fun.
2. The 12 meg card is NOT an iMac card, its a PCI card for tower macs. Sorry. no go.

I wouldn't count on OS X support for GW. Maybe in a some beta SW drivers, but i can't see support for anything interfacing with a slot that Apple never discussed being implemented into the core OS.

It'll work. If it doesnt, someone will hack it. Keep in mind that 8.6 or 9 doesnt officially support it either. Heh.

I'm not even sure we'll have support for PCI Voodoo2's. I haven't heard anything about it.

Quit worrying. it'd be stupid if ONLY new mac could run OSX. The mezz was never really supported on any current OS anyway, and it works. If it doesnt work, somebody WILL hack it, and we will be grateful.

Good call, Ca$h. I do say that I have faith that someone will hack it. If not, I'll learn to program and do it if I have to.
