I was just curious. If the only problem with the ADC not working on the original G4 is simply power, I don't see why someone can't just make a power cord that runs from the powerpins on the 128Pro card to the power supply.

Or is there more to it? Does any data actually transfer between those extra pins?

If anyone has a dual G4 with the new video card, I would apreciate any pictures of your AGP slot and how the ATI card fits in it.

It's USB as well, and data does transfer over it (obviously). It's a very tricky hack... I don't think anyone would be able to do it within reason.

The hardest part of the "hack" would be finding the plug... the pinout should be available through some source. Since the ADC plug is just USB, power and video in a plug, its just a matter of splitting it back into seperate I/O's. Power, USB and Video are pretty standard, and there's no real way of changing them unless Apple added some weird protocol to make them proprietary.

This sounds like a job for Ca$h...

Will post a pic of card(Radeon) and slot, when I get back from vacation if no one else has (next week).

Have a dual G4 and single AGP G4. ATI cards are different, dual has an extra interface in front of the agp and there is a corresponding connection on the board. Very small connector looks like it has about 4 or five leads, this could be the usb connection. Beyond that I don't know.

Yes, that is the power/USB connection.

You would have to get hold of a power supply that has a 28v ouput, to connect to those ADC pins. the first G4s dont have that type of supply.

If you did get a new supply and you dont need the USB feature of ADC it might work. You dont have USB off the mobo to supply the card with, unless you are gonna get real serious(ridiculous !) about it.
