I just bought a MAC......
Now I want this little IMAC to outperform this....

it's a Duron600 running at 1123Mhz

obviously I'm going to have to overclock it, so please help me with getting my MAC to kick some PC-ASS

Your iMac (mine and everyone's else also) won't overclock. If you want you
can overclock it about 50 or the max 100 Mhz but you won't get much of a speed differnce and certainly your machine won't outpass the 1123MHz machine.I don't know the machine but I'm quite sure that the graphic's card on this machine will be a lot better than the iMac's graphics card.So don't
bother. You have a good machine but it's not the greatest.

well what do I then have to get that will be able to overclock to such levels as to beat that....

This thing is still in the box.... so I'll take it back and get the right stuff then.... the aim is to beat that with as little money spent, I don't want to go buy something that will crap all over that pc out of the box, that just ain't no fun. I can do super-cooling so heat is not a problem at all...

If you want to do a major overclocking I don't know how to cool the thing. You said cooling is not a problem but remember you don't have a PC case. All the things in the iMac case are very close together. So I don't think it will work.May the force be with you!!!!
Why didn't you buy a Power Mac G4????It would be a lot better than an iMac.
Sorry but I can't help you better

You don't mention which iMac you have. But if you want to overclock your iMac, there's good info here complete w/ pictures and benchmarks: http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~t-imai/maine.html

Not sure you'll get more than 50-100MHz though. Of course, this guy just clocked up w/o any additional cooling so that could explain the 50-100MHz overclock. Seems risky though. Definitely voids your warranty if you have a recent iMac.

Don't forget to pick up the PowerLogix G3/4 cache clocking tool. You may need it to clock down the L2 cache if you do manage to set the base multiplier frequency higher than 100MHz boost........joe
