hey yall...im bummed that apple ended up not putting in slot loading DVDs into the new MPs, so ive decided to put one in myself...i just need two things, both present on an iMac DVSE graphite.

first off, of course, its the drive itself. second is the little separate piece of plastic on the front of the iMac that surrounds the slot where the DVDs are inserted.

does anyone know where i can get these two parts? can i call apple or should i go to a dealer? let me know so i can make my MP G4 dominate even more!

ps...an iMac DVDROM will fit in the G4 tower right?

iMacs DVD-rom is 50 pins ( Power supply included. ) instead of the standard 40 pin IDE

Get a Pioneer slot-in with 16x DVD and 40x CD

It's probably cheaper too.

check http://www.xlr8yourmac.com 's drive compatibility database, you'll see which DVD drives are compatible...
G4/450, T-bird 1.05GHz, iBook 500, iBook 233...4 different machines, 4 different OSes...(9, 2k, X.1, YDL2.2 respectively) PiA to maintain...
