What are the pros and cons of overclocking a computer (in my case a beige G3/300)? On another forum the Xtrem jumper block solution has been convincingly ridiculed, and I've lost interest in that. But if it can be done without damaging the computer, I'd like to know about it, as well as where I can find information about it.

Pros: Faster. Cooler. Bragging rights. Extra SETI crunching power.

Cons: more heat. more likely for your chip to die. More crashes.

But dont be afriad. I've known people who have been running the same OCd chip for almost 4 years.
