I have a couple of 5g HD and want to connect them to the cube. They are internal IDE drives (maxtor 85120a8). I read an article said firewire and e-ide (cdrw) are basically the same only with a bridge. So can I get a bridge chip to convert the old HD to a firewire HD? Speed isn't a issue. I will use them only for data, pix, mp3 storage so I can free up my small 20g hd inside the cube and use it for dv editing.

well, you can get IDE-USB or IDE-FireWire cases from most mac retailers. check www.outpost.com or www.macmall.com or any of the other major ones.

http://www.macally.com sells cases that use ATA drives and have external USB connectivity (i.e. they have the ATA to USB bridge chip that is so popular). FireWire cases of the same primciple are close to double, so consider wisely.
