Is it possible to recycle a Powercenter Pro 180/60 604 processor in a Powermac 7500? Will it fit? Do you need Powercenter Pro drivers? Has anyone done it.

Won't work, the connector on a PCP is slightly different.

The PowerCenter Pro's CPU card should work fine in the Apple; however, the Apple CPU probably won't work in the PowerCenter Pro (if you still have it, that is).

The PCP was based on the Catalyst motherboard design and requires the DRTRY (data retry) line from the CPU, which means Power Computing and the upgrade card manufacturers had to add it to the card pinout. I'm guessing Apple just left the line disconnected, so you shouldn't have any problems. Don't kick my ass if the machine blows up, though.

It is NOT going to work.
I've tried installing a 210 mhz from a PCP in a 7500, a 7600 and a 9500.
No go, period.

hmm, i've had a pcc 150mhz card in my umax j700 and an apple 120 card in a powercenter. both worked flawlessly. could it be a bus multiplier thing that keeps some cards with higher clockrates from working in a 7500?
