Hello. My LaCie Firewire CDRW (Matshita 8/4/32x mechanism) has analog audio out jacks (RCA style) on the back. It also has a digital out port inside, which i'd like to use to hook up to my MiniDisc's optical -in with an LED. Oh, and there's also the headphone jack on the front, with an analog volume thumbwheel.

The problem is that the Mac system software (i suspect) somehow disables all these hardware audio outs. The audio signal instead travels digitally through IDE-->Firewire to the computer.

Does anyone know how to re-enable the audio out hardware?

Thanks,

robo
